This Week’s Reflection
Let me offer you a little bread so you will feel stronger… ~Genesis 18: 5
No matter where we come from, or where we are on our journeys, we need physical and spiritual nourishment. In Genesis 18 ordinary people, Abraham and Sarah, receive a call, a promise, and a blessing from God. They receive a visit from beings to whom they show amazing hospitality. They bless and nourish the visitors. Not only according to custom, yet blessing others as God has blessed them. All this during the hottest part of the day. Abraham showed how it takes purpose to be hospitable and of service to others.
During this season of Pride, we are encouraged to look into our own hearts to acknowledge God’s creation and to look to our community and acknowledge our potential strength and unity in community. We march in Pride, we hold each other dear in Pride, we support each other in Pride
This also is the Sunday that precedes the acknowledgement of Juneteenth. This is a recognition of the word of emancipation reaching the formerly enslaved people in Galveston, Texas years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed into law. We celebrate the opportunity to be free and do not take for granted the battles that continue to be hard fought to gain equity and freedom.
I encourage you to consider for yourself the value and the price of freedom. John 8:36 encourages, “If the Beloved sets you free, you will be free indeed”. Let us each work to experience God’s freedom.

Suggested donations start at $25.00 per name, yet do not let finances be a barrier.
