This Week’s Reflection

MCCDC - The Place To Be

From the rising of the sun to where it sets, God, the Lord God, speaks, Calling out to the earth. Psalm 50:1

God is an up close and personal God who desires to be in relationship with all of creation. In these times, more than ever, we need to have faith and trust. We need faith that God is present and concerned about the condition of our lives. Faith that things have the possibility of working out even in challenging times. Paying for food, medicine, gas, and other essentials on a fixed income. Wondering if well be able to retire from working all the time. Many communities promote having extra jobs or a “side hustle” to make ends meet or to support extended family members. The number of activities we need to engage in can be exhausting and frankly, discouraging at times.

Can we trust in God Jireh, our provider, to actually provide what we need to nourish our souls? As we continue our series “Songs of Our Souls” we will also continue to sing songs of faith, trust and courage that have been meaningful in MCCDC’s historic journey.

We will also have some new songs to teach you about God our provider. In your preparation and meditation, please listen to one of MCCDC’s foundational songs “We’ve Come This Far by Faith” Donnie McClurkin sings” We Come This far by Faith”.
Please join your MCCDC family online or in person on Sunday at 9 am or 11am ET, or any time on demand.

Peace,
Rev. Cathy Alexander
MCCDC Associate Pastor

Thank You for your Generosity

Generosity Prayer #26 by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter

“God, what is it You want to do through us?” —MCCDC—

Dear God, thank you for the blessings you have bestowed upon us. Thank you for working through Metropolitan Community Church of Washington DC, associated ministries, and different denominations throughout the world to carry out your work and endeavors that You have purposed us to perform.

Each time we ask, “God, what is it You want to do through us” we thank you for the Holy Spirit who leads and guide us; and we pray to heed Its voice and obey. Thank you for the wonderful opportunities to continue giving generously of our financial gifts, time, talents, and treasures, and for being a blessing to our families and others in our everyday lives.

God, whether we are happy, or sad, or suffering a great loss, help us to stay encouraged and keep the faith and trust you, for you are with us always. Thank You in your many names, Amen!

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.” ~2 Samuel 22:33 (NIV)

Research Study on LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Church

Are you an adult who identifies as LGBTQ+ and attends an open, welcoming, and affirming church? If so, please consider participating in a research study. Dr. Megan Yost at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania is seeking to learn about LGBTQ+ people who have found a home in inclusive, LGBTQ+ affirming congregations, because most other research on this topic has examined people who have left churches due to experiences with sexual prejudice.

Click here for detailed Participation involves completing an online questionnaire, which includes an essay (or spiritual autobiography). You will be offered $15 for participation.
