This Week’s Reflection
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you, O God preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me. “God has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” ~Micah 6:8 (NRSVUE)
I am so grateful that God always provides purpose and vision to the plans God has for us. God doesn’t leave that up to us because humans will mess that up. God’s purpose for us includes several calls.
First, we are called according to Genesis 1:26 to be stewards of the earth. God gives us the responsibility to take care of the earth and everything in it as God created it.
Second, we are called be fruitful and multiply. I believe that being fruitful and multiplying is about more than just procreation (Gen. 1:28). It’s about using what God has blessed us with to bless and care for others.
Third, we are called to obey God’s commands. Jesus teaches that all will know that we are Christ’s disciples if we love one another (John 13:35). Let us also shoulder/carry one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:2). This includes those who are parentless and/or have lost their spouses. We are called to be with the grieving and to care. This is all part of being disciples of Jesus: being a witness, salt, and light in the world.

Dear God, thank you for watching over us and protecting us as we go about our daily lives. There is no greater love than the love you give us. Each time we ask “God, what is it you want to do through us,” help us search our hearts and respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. We are grateful for Your wisdom and guidance in all that Metropolitan Community Church of Washington DC and associate ministries are doing for all people regardless of gender, economic status, race, cultural differences, or religion. Thank you for the opportunities and blessings to continue growing a faith-raising generosity for sharing all our precious gifts within a “church without borders.” We are “full to the brim” and overflowing with prayers for a more prosperous inclusive Christian community. Thank You in your many names. Amen!

Older Adult Ministry
We’ll hold our next Older Adult Ministry meeting after worship on Sunday, July 10th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.
