This Week’s Reflection
Time to get dressed!
Wherever we are on the planet, whatever time zone we are in, it is likely that part of our ritual after rising from sleep is getting dressed. The number of options that we have about what to wear depends on many things on any given day or night, including where we will be going and what we will be doing following the process of getting dressed. With the pandemic, across the world, many of us spend time dressing to stay home, if we are blessed enough to have an abode. For this week’s Borderfree worship service, some of us will dress in our “Sunday best” and others in our pajamas joining with our MCCDC family in worship from home, other virtual locations, or in-person in the church building at 474 Ridge St NW.
Continuing our worship series, Champions of Faith, this Sunday we find the Apostle Paul letting the church at Ephesus know that it is time to get dressed spiritually. Time to pick up, put on, and to embrace the strength and support of the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20). This armor is the embodiment of truth, justice, salvation, and faith. It adorns the feet in readiness to spread the Good News of peace—to carry the Word of God. This way of dressing—of equipping for victory—is not just an individual process, but one for the entire church community.
Please join us virtually or in-person at 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. EDT as we explore how putting on the full armor of the Spirit provides us with guidance and encourages us to be victors in service to love and justice in the world to come, and right here, right now in this realm, in the 21st century.

The Beloved is as radiant as the sun,
as strong as a steel shield,
and invites each one to come,
to partake of the Banquet.
Who will accept the goodness of Love?
Who will seek for spiritual
Treasure?
