This Week’s Reflection

“Remember the wondrous works
the Holy One has done, all the marvelous works,
and the justice that has been declared.”
~Psalm 105:5
The words of Psalm 105 invite us to pause and remember. In the rush of daily life, it is easy to become consumed by our present circumstances. We carry burdens, face uncertainties, and navigate seasons filled with both joy and sorrow. Yet the Psalmist calls God’s people to look back and recall the faithfulness of God through every season.
When challenges arise, we often find ourselves asking, Where is God in all of this? Where is God when grief overwhelms us after the loss of a loved one? Where is God when we are searching for employment, struggling to provide for our families, longing for comfort, or facing circumstances beyond our control? These are honest questions that believers throughout history have asked.
Scripture reminds us that God does not abandon God’s own people in their struggles. The Lord’s presence is not limited to moments of celebration and victory. The Lord moves with us through valleys as well as mountaintops. Even when the purposes remain hidden and the timing is difficult to understand, God is faithful to remain near.
The times in which we live can easily consume our attention. Daily headlines, social tensions, personal concerns, and cultural changes compete for our attention. What once seemed unusual now seeks to become normalized, and many feel unsettled by the uncertainty surrounding them. In such moments, the Psalmist’s words become especially important. We are called not to focus only on present troubles but also to remember the wondrous works of God.
When we remember God’s faithfulness in the past, our faith is strengthened for the future. We recall prayers answered, doors opened, strength provided, and mercy shown. The same God who guided people through wilderness journeys, delivered them from hardship, and fulfilled promises, is still at work today.
This week, take a few moments to reflect on God’s goodness in your own life. Consider the ways you have been carried through difficult seasons, provided when needs arose, and remained faithful even when you could not perceive the path ahead. Gratitude for God’s past faithfulness gives us confidence to have trust for today’s concerns and tomorrow’s uncertainties.
Come worship with your MCCDC family this Sunday at 10:30 am ET—onsite, online, or later on demand. However you are able to join, your presence is a blessing, and there is a place for you in the journey.

Peace,
Rev Cathy Alexander
Associate Pastor
