This Week’s Reflection

MCCDC - The Place To Be

“One thing at a time. That’s all we have to do. Not two things at once, but one thing, done in peace. One task at a time. One feeling at a time. One day at a time. One problem at a time. One step at a time. One pleasure at a time. Take one thing at a time. See how everything works out.” ~Melody Beattie

Our scripture for Sunday from Exodus 16: 1-15 says, “In the evening you will know that it was God who brought you up out of Egypt and in the morning you will witness the presence of God.” What a wonderful description of the rhythm of wellness. The rhythm is compassionate and gentle, a daily flow. The flow is balanced with morning provision and evening provision. In Sunday’s text there are four references to morning and four references to evening. Morning and evening offer touchpoints of wellness.

Wellness is grounded in a sense of enoughness rather than the fear that comes with a sense of lack. Our God is the enough God. In the morning there is enough of God’s presence, enough bread, enough knowledge, and enough refreshment. In the evening there is enough freedom, enough nourishment, enough strength, and enough grace.

Today’s recovery programs include “One Day at a Time” as a key mantra. Many of us in the movement have found assurance in knowing that our Higher Power invites us to simplify our aspirations to small daily choices and attainable goals. Day by day we choose to put God first, to set boundaries, to practice self-care, to care for others and to reflect with gratitude on what we are learning and how we are growing. Each day there is something to celebrate and something to learn from.

In preparation for Sunday, I invite you to join me in reflecting on this simple promise from Exodus 16:12: “You will have your fill and then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your God.”

With wellness we learn to live with fullness, one day at a time. I am so grateful for MCCDC and our support for each other and our community, as we share this journey together.

In Wellness,

Rev. Elder Dwayne Johnson

Pathways 2 Generosity, Prayer #78 by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter

by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter

“Abundance and prosperity begin with gratitude and appreciation.” – Anthon St. Maarten

Dear God, we come to you with thanksgiving and praise for all you have done for us. We are grateful for the Holy Spirit that guides us each day through prayer, our spiritual leaders, ideas, plans, and desires to continue carrying out the work you have ordained us to perform according to your will. Thank you for the opportunities that, sometime pose as obstacles in our path toward accomplishing goals for our spiritual gathering place. Give us the patience and strength to endure.

We are thankful for all spiritual places of worship where everyone is invited to partake of God’s grace and mercy. Thank you for the financial gifts, talents, time, and treasures that are shared generously in spreading the gospel and helping people in need.

Thank you for the gifts of the Spirit upon us, your love, mercy, grace, forgiveness and so much more. God, we surrender our faults, ill-feelings, sickness, and doubts to your healing power. By your grace, we move forward in faith and confidence into a healthier and prosperous life. The overflow of your abundance and riches fills us with gratitude for the things you have brought us through. God bless everyone. Thank you in your many holy names. Amen.

“All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:15
