When you have lost your voice and don’t know how to trust yourself, it’s impossible to trust anyone else. ~Trust by Iyanla Vanzant
This month we are ‘holding dear to truth and trust.’ What does it mean to recognize, proclaim, and live our truth? How do we even determine what our personal truth IS? Our truth can come to us in an instant as we were born with it, and for some it takes a lifetime to discover that truth. We are faced with decisions when that truth is challenged or oppressed. Do we have the strength, or even the ability, to rise up and live out our truth in the face of challenge, oppression or even personal danger? This kind of living takes courage and self-trust and trust in others when it makes sense.
There is some measure of truth-making and trust-taking when one is faced with being reconciled with another. Our readings this week urge us to consider how reconciliation inside and outside of ourselves might be implemented. We will be examining Matthew 5: 21-25 which encourages us to be reconciled with our siblings. What do we do, however, when our safety or our very lives are at stake? Come Sunday at 9 am or 11 am to discuss. Hope to see you there.

Help Us Observe a Spiritually Rich Lent
Lent is almost here-February 26 is Ash Wednesday-and it’s a special opportunity for all the creative, faithful writers (and would-be writers) among us to contribute to our community spiritual life.
Each day during the 40 days of Lent, members and friends will receive a devotional-a story (from your past or even one you create), a meditation on Scripture, a video, a poem, or a reflection about this time in your life and/or our lives together.
The theme for Lent this year is “Entering the Passion of Jesus.” You can choose to write in response to that, or you can choose to tell your truth even if it does not address that theme. The key is to submit it to Rev. Dr. Robin Hawley Gorsline, MCCDC’s Writer/Theologian in Residence, at email@example.com (or you can send it to the church office and they will forward it to him).
Feel free to contact Rev. Robin by email or by phone at 240/565-3441 or email if you have any questions or concerns. And be sure to watch your inbox for your daily inspiration!
