SOMETHING INSIDE SO STRONG
Hi Everyone,
Prayers your week is going well and that last Sunday’s message about moving from time management to time investment is having a positive impact on your week. I’ve gotten some good feedback.
If you missed the message, check it out on YouTube.

Today I came across this quote by Todd Henry that refers to how our time investments may impact the time investments of others: “It’s careless to waste someone’s time. When you do, you are essentially wasting the person’s life. It’s not like we wake up in the morning, thinking, I wonder how I can turn our day into a wasteland of meaningless activity and fruitless meetings. No, it happens via little decisions over time.” Hmmm. . .this has me thinking about how we do meetings at MCCDC. . .
Rising Strong is going strong.
We have a great group meeting on Thursday nights as part of MCCDC’s new YOU90. We are studying Brene’ Brown’s new bestseller Rising Strong: The Reckoning, The Rumble, The Revolution. Some who can’t attend the sessions are reading on their own. My copy just arrived so I have some catching up to do. What I’ve read so far is great and I look forward to talking with you about it.
Theme for January 28th at 9 AM and 11 AM–Something Inside So Strong.
The Scriptures I’m rumbling (thanks Brene’ Brown!) with this week are Deuteronomy 19: 15-20 and Mark 1:21-28. There is some tough stuff in these scriptures. These verses have caught my attention at this point:
+Deuteronomy 18:18: I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their own people; I will put my words in the mouth of the prophet, who will speak to them everything
that I command.
+Mark 1: 22, 27: They were astounded at the teaching of Jesus, for Jesus taught them as one having authority . . . They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, “What is this? A new teaching—with authority!”
What questions do these scriptures stir in you? I’m asking, “Does God still raise up prophets? Does God still raise up powerful teachers?” I’m wondering what if rather than individual prophets and teachers, God called communities to be “prophets” and “teachers.” What if MCCDC became a prophetic church that offered astounding teaching as described in our Scripture? What are some ideas to make that possible? Find out more this Sunday!
MCCDC is Creating Change.
We have a strong team of volunteers (about 20 or so!) serving in all kinds of ways at the Creating Change Conference, happening now at Washington Marriott Wardman. I’m grateful for all who have taken this opportunity to serve our community and become change creators.
I’m looking forward to sharing time with you in the presence of God this Sunday at 9 AM and 11 AM
Faithfully, Rev Elder Dwayne Johnson

MCCDC LIVE STREAMING
MCCDC is live! We have an opportunity to use of our AV system to reach outside our walls to many people who may not be able to join us in person. To make this happen we must have a subscription service that will provide us the ability to stream our services, concerts and special events, and expand opportunities for participation in our bible studies and other activities remotely. The testing done so far with streaming has generated a lot of excitement, particularly by those who have been unable to visit our church.
You can be a part of making this happen in a number of ways: (1) pray for our reach beyond the walls of our church (2) join others in donating to cover the one-time annual cost of the service and associated AV training for our volunteers; and (3) consider joining the AV ministry.
