How invested are you?
This is not a message about giving financially to the church, so don’t go running out of the room just yet…
- First Egalitarian Translation mentions the word “faith” 628 times.
- Without faith it is impossible to please God – Hebrews 11:6.
- How courageous does my faith have to be?
-
- “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
-
- What does it mean to be invested?
- Many would say, giving money to the church.
- Some might say, working at the church.
- Others say going to church every time the doors are open.
- All of these are such a very small part of being invested.
Jesus taught about investing in the Kingdom of God in various ways, through stories and parables. He talked about the Kingdom of God being like someone find something of great worth (a pearl of great price) and selling all that they had in order to buy it.
Jesus taught the story of a rich young ruler who wanted to know what it would take to have eternal life. Jesus told him to sell everything, give it to the poor, and then to follow after him. This young man didn’t have the courageous faith to follow after Christ; he trusted too much in his riches.
- What do we trust in?
- Does that keep us from following after the person God has called us to be?
Courageous faith requires commitment. Jesus’ disciples were fully committed and invested in the Kingdom of God; each of them eventually gave their lives for the cause of Christ.
Is it possible that being invested is like being a little pregnant? You either are pregnant or you’re not!
Being invested requires sacrifice.

“Apply yourself both now and in the next life. Without effort, you cannot be prosperous. Though the land be good, you cannot have an abundant crop without cultivation.” ~ Plato
Dear God, thank you for being the strength in our weakness. It is through you that we move and have our being. With you all things are possible—the fulfilling of the vision and mission to further the purpose of your spiritual realm across borders for a borderless spiritual worship in all languages to magnify your glory and power. Thank you for courageous faith to work prosperously all of your goodness, and the willingness to share it with others. Thank you for your unconditional love that reigns over everyone, the grace you gave us through the sacrifice of your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
We praise you for all spiritual worship spaces, and our local worship space, Metropolitan Community Church of Washington DC, where we gather to worship you and share our offerings and tithes, talents, skills, time, and treasures in serving the purpose of your spiritual realm. We are thankful for the ability to gather wealth through the many resources you provide to carry out the vision and mission during our spiritual journey on earth. We are grateful for your priceless gifts of love, peace, kindness, respect, faith, strength, courage, wisdom, order, and the breath of life itself that you equipped us with to live a life pleasing to you. Thank you for the peace within that only you provide that keeps us humble in pleasant situations, and helps us endure unpleasant circumstances. We pray to wholeheartedly exercise courageous faith, trust you in all things, and continue moving forward. Thank you in your many precious names, Amen.
“With you God, are the greatness, power , glory, victory, and majesty. Everything in the heavens and on the earth belongs to you… Riches and honor come from you; and you rule over all. You hold power and might in your hands, and it is in your hand to make great and give strength to all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (The First Egalitarian Translation)
