This Week’s Reflection

Gratitude doesn’t cost us anything financially speaking, but its value cannot be measured. Ask yourself, what is the price of gratitude worth to me? How can I express that gratitude to God for the precious gift of grace and salvation offered to me? You might ask, what can I give to God to show my gratitude for what God has done for me?
Jesus said in Matt. 25:35-36, 40: 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these siblings of mine, you did it to me.’
Can grateful people judge others? To explore this question, let’s consider the following points for reflection:
* Grateful individuals often focus on positive aspects of life, which may reduce harsh judgments.
* They may empathize more with others, leading to more compassion.
* Grateful people can form opinions based on their values and experiences.
* However, grateful people can still form opinions based on their values and experiences.
* Judgment can be influenced by context; gratitude doesn’t eliminate the capacity for critical thinking.
* Ultimately, being grateful does not preclude the ability to discern; it may simply alter the nature of my discernments.
God is the judge and not me. I don’t have the right to judge. Those whom the son sets free are free indeed (John 8:36).
The season of Lent is a time of contemplation of who we are and who our God is. It’s a time of looking inward, of considering our failures, our triumphs, and what the Lord has done for us.
It’s a time of recognizing that God chose mercy and sent Grace, Through Jesus, into the world, that we could receive salvation, which we don’t deserve. God showed Mercy and accepted Jesus’ sacrifice in our place. What is that grace worth to me?

Thank you.
Rev Dr Teresa Tygart

Pathways to Generosity, Prayer #168

by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter
“And God, who supplies seed for the sower and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity.” 2 Corinthians 9:10 (Good News Bible)
Dear God, it is so marvelous that you created us in your image, human beings instilled with your divine nature. Help us to be grateful always and remain committed to live your purpose as you have ordained us. Thank you for blessing all places of spiritual worship with the spirit of generosity to share your goodness through time, talents, financial gifts, and treasures, a willingness to serve you and worship you with others, and to help people in need. We are grateful for spiritual leaders who teach and guide us in the ways of righteousness.
We are grateful to do all things to glorify your name and bear witness to your unconditional loving grace and mercies each day. We pray to continue to share our gifts generously with thanksgiving and praise. Thank you in your many precious names. Amen!
“God of our ancestors, God of mercy, you who made all things by your word, and in your wisdom gave mere mortals stewardship over all creation to care for the world in holiness and uprightness, and to administer justice with a pure heart.” Solomon 9:1-3 (The First Egalitarian Translation)
