The Lord’s power overcame me, and while I was in the Lord’s spirit, God led me out and set me down in the middle of a certain valley. It was full of bones. God led me through them all around, and I saw that there were a great many of them on the valley floor, and they were very dry. God asked me, “Human one, can these bones live again?” I said, “Lord God, only you know.” (Ezekiel 37:1-14, Common English Bible, adapted)
“Can these bones live again?” The Prophet Ezekiel was taken to a valley floor that was scattered with very dry bones. God asked Ezekiel if the bones could live again, to which the Prophet answered, “Lord God, only you know.” God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, to speak with authority, to proclaim the word of God, that the bones would indeed live again. What do dry bones represent? What are the dry bones in your life? Dry bones can represent areas or situations in our lives where we have experienced loss, despair, or hopelessness.
“Lord God, only you know.” God promises to restore the situation or areas in our lives that represent the dry bones by breathing life into us, and we will know that it was God and God’s love, strength, and power that transform our lives and move us from a place of despair and hopelessness to a place that is lifegiving and life-affirming.
Please join us this Sunday at 10:30 am Eastern time, online, on-site, or later on demand as we reflect on God’s promise to breathe life into the dry bones in our lives.
Peace and Blessings!

Pathways to Generosity, Prayer #154
by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson
Dear God, thank you for your generosity. Let us not count our acts of kindness but that we share willingly of your generosity with others by being kind and helpful. Thank you for the gift of peace within our hearts to accept things we are unable to change, to exercise courage where needed to make a difference that proves beneficial for the good of everyone. We are grateful for the wisdom to carry out changes that are needed to make the world a safer place to live. Today, we pray that peace reign throughout the world where everyone are free to choose where they want to live. We pray that the gifts of generosity are made accessible to help everyone who is in dire need of clothing, food, and shelter.

We pray for protection of your beloved community of all peoples everywhere and help all to remain steadfast in faith and be strengthened by trusting You in all situations and circumstances. We pray for freedom and better living conditions for everyone. Most of all thank you, God, for planting your love within our hearts so that we can commune with You anytime. It does not matter if we are in a dedicated building of spiritual worship, or having fun at the beach, or sitting in the kitchen drinking a cup of tea and eating chocolate chip cookies. We praise You for the glorious miracles you perform in our lives. Thank you, God, in your many precious names! Amen.
Simon answered, “Rabbi, we’ve been working hard all night long and have caught nothing; but if you say so, I’ll lower the nets.” Upon doing so, they caught such a great number of fish that their nets were at the breaking point. (The First Egalitarian Translation)
