This Week’s Reflection
Beloved MCCDC community, many of us know Psalm 23, which begins,
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” (Read the passage here).
It is a passage of comfort—an assurance of God’s care and God’s presence with
us. Some may be experiencing difficult times of grief, pain, or anger.
At those times, we may feel uncared for, or lonely, or unappreciated, or
downtrodden, and we are reminded that God encourages us to express
ourselves with kindness and courage. We resist oppression in all its
forms so that we can carry out our shared values and purpose in life—and
God has called MCCDC to make a positive difference out in our community.
To spread the good news of God’s inclusive love for all. Now is a good
time to go tell somebody.
Still, we may be wondering: Can we trust the Lord—our Shepherd—to guide,feed, protect, and shelter us? How do we follow when the way feelsuncertain?
How do we walk and move outside when oppressive forces seem to be at our doorstep? How do we bring the burning questions on our
hearts before God: Am I safe? What will happen to me? What will happen to our church? Where can I find those “still waters” when everything feels turbulent—and my insides are crying out for relief and peace?
These questions can swirl around us each day—and the Lord is there to shepherd and guide; someone you can trust. We will dig deeper into Psalm 23 this Sunday.
