This Week’s Reflection
“This universe itself, but especially the planet Earth, needs to be experienced as the primary mode of divine presence.”
—Thomas Berry
As I return from my one-year sabbatical, I am delighted to contribute to our exploration of wellness in body, mind, and spirit.
Appropriate to our focus is this week’s Scripture which focuses on Moses striking the rock at Horeb to bring water to the parched Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 17:1-7), an example of how, in Nan Merrill’s rendering of Psalm 78:12, “the Eternal Lover has shown the wonders of Creation, wonders to behold.”
Thus, as we focus on wellness, let us not forget the basics, of how we need clean air, and clean water in the seas and rivers and lakes, trees and sunlight and darkness and animals and those who fly and creep, Earth in all her forms, including rocks and mountains and canyons as well as farm fields and forests and verdant meadows and valleys and even deserts and plains—all the wonders of Creation including us humans. Let us remember that all of us—our human and other than human kin—share in the sacred journey of wellness for all. We cannot make it alone.
I hope you’ll join me and many others this Sunday at 9:00 and/or 11:00 as we continue our sacred journey as a community seeking to be in closer relationship with Divine Oneness and to share the gifts of that journey more widely, remembering, in the words of Native American theologian Steven Charleston, “The intention of God in creating the Earth is so powerful, so extraordinarily holy, that the echo of divine love remains present even after uncounted centuries have passed.”
May we continue to live and love in divine wellness.

“Abundance and prosperity begin with gratitude and appreciation.” – Anthon St. Maarten
Dear God, we come to you with thanksgiving and praise for all you have done for us. We are grateful for the Holy Spirit that guides us each day through prayer, our spiritual leaders, ideas, plans, and desires to continue carrying out the work you have ordained us to perform according to your will. Thank you for the opportunities that, sometime pose as obstacles in our path toward accomplishing goals for our spiritual gathering place. Give us the patience and strength to endure.
We are thankful for all spiritual places of worship where everyone is invited to partake of God’s grace and mercy. Thank you for the financial gifts, talents, time, and treasures that are shared generously in spreading the gospel and helping people in need.
Thank you for the gifts of the Spirit upon us, your love, mercy, grace, forgiveness and so much more. God, we surrender our faults, ill-feelings, sickness, and doubts to your healing power. By your grace, we move forward in faith and confidence into a healthier and prosperous life. The overflow of your abundance and riches fills us with gratitude for the things you have brought us through. God bless everyone. Thank you in your many holy names. Amen.
“All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:15
