This Week’s Reflection
“The battle for our thoughts is one of the largest battlefields we face against the enemy of our souls. When we line up our thoughts with the thoughts and promises of God, it gives our Spirit the opportunity to renew our thoughts and attitudes. Then, we can align them with truth of what God says.” ~Excerpt from “How Focusing on God Will Change Your Day” blog by Dr. Michelle Bengtson
GROWTH, such a powerful thing. Growth sometimes makes you fearful and other times you are ready to celebrate because you are completely tuned in to how you are growing. For those who are fearful of welcoming growth, note, you are not alone. God has never left your side during your journey; you may have just forgotten that important piece of information. During this Pride season, spend time sitting in the space of what growing every day looks like. Be proud to speak truth about your queerness, the skin you are in, how you want to express yourself and acknowledging the love you have for YOU! Your growth is vital to the person you choose to be every day. When you are aligned with God and all the blessings God has in store for you, nothing can stop your growth and how you show up!
Our scripture for Sunday from Romans 4, is a clear example of what growing with God looks like. Although unsure of the outcome, Abraham followed his faith with God. “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what was promised.” (v.20-21). Abraham’s faith allowed him to be aligned with God and the blessings that would be bestowed upon him and his offspring. Welcome your mind, body, and spirit to experience growth every day.
Join us Sunday for Pridetide at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Eastern, in the Sanctuary, online and on demand. This Sunday, I will share a message about the correlation between taking care of your mental health and nurturing a growth relation with God.
As we prepare for Sunday’s service, consider what having growth with God can mean for you. Perhaps the more time spent with God, the more growth you can experience.
With grace,

Pathways 2 Generosity, Prayer #64 by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter
by Clara Carter, MCCDC Prayer Supporter
“Be a gift to everyone who enters your life, and to everyone whose life you enter. Be careful not to enter another’s life if you cannot be a gift. (You can always be a gift, because you always are the gift — yet sometimes you don’t let yourself know that.)” ~Neale Donald Walsch
Dear God, we are grateful for the spiritual gifts that you have given us. Thank you for the opportunities to interact with each other and with ourselves in a loving and peaceful manner. We pray to always be a gift of love, kindness, understanding, and respect with people, including those who are unaware that we all are a gift of God through which the Holy Spirit seeks to express in our lives.
God, thank you for Metropolitan Community Church of Washington DC, and all spiritual places of worship where everyone gathers to praise and glorify your name. We are grateful to share generously of our financial gifts, time, talents, skills, and treasures to continue spreading the gospel throughout the world, and to provide for people in need. It is through your power, might and strength that help us to accomplish your great works! Thank you, in your many precious names. Amen.
“As generous distributors of God’s manifold grace, put your gifts at the service of one another, each in the measure you have received.” 1st Peter 4:10 (The 1st Egalitarian Translation)
