Pastor Reflection Living BIG: The Great 50 Days of Easter
BELIEVE BEFORE YOU CAN SEE
“Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”
~Hebrews 11:1
This Second Sunday of Easter marks the time after Jesus’ resurrection when then the disciples found themselves locked in a room contemplating what had happened and what their next move would be.
Uncertain of the whereabouts of Jesus after being informed by Mary Magdalene that he had appeared to her and would be coming to see them, the disciples waited to see if what they’d heard was true. Could Jesus actually be alive as Mary had reported? It was hard to believe, they needed to see.
There are times in our own lives when things sound too good to be true. Things that we want to see before we will believe them. Having faith, however, oftentimes requires us to believe something happened or will happen before we actually see it.
Jesus had been preparing the disciples for this moment for many days prior to it happening and asked them to trust in his words. He reassured them he would be ascending and worked with them to be ready for that time. And still the disciples were confused and afraid when it actually took place.
Much like the disciples we too may feel anxious or confused about things happening in our lives, communities or in the world around us. We want to believe things can be better even when it doesn’t look possible.
Blessed are those who believe before they see, blessed are those who see the manifestation of a better world, a better life, a better tomorrow, before they see it. Blessed are those who can see the Light of God in the darkness of this world.
Blessed are those of us who believe things can get better even when we see them getting worse, blessed are those of
us who can see a better tomorrow in spite of an uncertain today.
Help us God to believe these things, even before we see them. Amen.
By Faith,
Rev. Elect Wendy Hamilton

MCCDC LIVE STREAMING
MCCDC is live! We have an opportunity to use of our AV system to reach outside our walls to many people who may not be able to join us in person. To make this happen we must have a subscription service that will provide us the ability to stream our services, concerts and special events, and expand opportunities for participation in our bible studies and other activities remotely. The testing done so far with streaming has generated a lot of excitement, particularly by those who have been unable to visit our church.ntact the church office with questions at 202-638-7373 or churchoffice@mccdc.com
You can be a part of making this happen in a number of ways: (1) pray for our reach beyond the walls of our church (2) join others in donating to cover the one-time annual cost of the service and associated AV training for our volunteers; and (3) consider joining the AV ministry.
