Choirs/Music Minitry

MCCDC’s Music Ministry has, since the church’s founding, brought a spirit of excellent to the worship arts, not just for our local congregation but throughout the denomination. From our first music minister Carl Barnwell to our current Music Minister Justin Ritchie, we have been blessed with musical gifting in abundance. It is out of that tradition that we seek to usher in express the spirit of God in music and song.

Music Minister Justin Ritchie is some of the most cutting edge artists in their fields. Justin is a celebrated cabaret artist, popular in both Washington, DC and New York and a featured vocalist in the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington.

The Music Ministry’s diversity of gifting, talent, leadership, and faith traditions affords us a breadth of sacred musical expression that is in many ways uncommon in Metropolitan Community Churches around the globe.  Our musical expression range from traditional chorale, to traditional gospel, black gospel, and contemporary christian styles.

Metropolitan Community Churches hand selected the MCCDC Music Ministry to serve as the base choir for the 2013 General Conference, to be held in July 2013 in Chicago, Illinois.  The 2013 General Conference promises to be the largest international gathering of MCCers in the denominations 40+ year history.

Sunday Morning Worship
9am & 11am

Diverse
MCCDC is home to one of the denomination's most diverse congregations. While some say that the most segregated times of the week is on Sunday morning, you'll find nothing further than the truth about our church. Our rich diversity is also reflected in our worship styles. All of our Sunday worship reflects a blended style. The 9am worship service features more traditional elements of Christian worship while our 11am worship is more contemporary and charismatic.

Music
Since our founding in the early 1970s, MCCDC's worship has been known for its excellence in Music Ministry. Now, our choirs help usher in a highly engaging spirit to our Sunday worship.

Communion
As part of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, we offer communion at all of our worship services. We practice an open communion. One does not need to be a part of this church or any church to partake of God's gifts at the Communion Table. We offer communion with or without short prayer. We welcome all to God's table.
