BY FAITH: A NEW VISION
JOIN US SUNDAY! 9AM & 11AM
“Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so all may move forward who read it.”
~ Habakkuk 2:2
Saturday, September 12 will be an important day in the life of MCCDC. I invite you to be a part of it. Rev. Elder Don Eastman will be with us for a Church Planning Forum to help answer the question, “What are we called to do as a congregation?”
Why is this question so important? Because the answer to the question is no longer self-evident. When we were founded 45 years ago we were the only church fully inclusive to LGBT people. We knew what we were called to do: unconditionally open our doors to LGBT people. At that time, marriage equality seemed a distant hope. We knew what we were called to do: open our doors to bless all relationships. In the early 80’s when HIV & AIDS emerged as a health crisis, we knew what to do: open our doors to minister with unwavering compassion to create support systems.
Now, with cultural and legal shifts, many churches are doing what in the past has been MCCDC’s unique niche. Thus, our future growth requires that we prayerfully determine a new focus for our future. MCCDC needs your help and your voice. Rev. Elder Don Eastman will meet with us from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. So we can plan, I invite you to sign-up now by sending me an email at RevDwayne@MCCDC.com
By faith, to support our ongoing work and to seed the vision from September 12, we have launched the “45 Years: We’ve Come This Far By Faith” Campaign. Thanks to those of you who have already responded. The campaign goals are to build our church congregation, reach out into the community with very focused efforts, and put our church finances on solid ground. The campaign goal is $145,000 above our regular giving over the next two years. $80,000 of the campaign funds will be seed money to resource the ideas from the Church Planning Forum. Between now and September 13 I invite you to join me in deciding and resourcing our future. Every prayer matters. Every gift matters.
By faith, we acknowledge our dependence on the Lord to receive the vision for our future. And, by faith, we will resource the vision with our prayers, time, financial resources and talents to the glory of God.
Rev. Elder Dwayne

Opportunities to serve in ministry are plentiful. If you have a heart to serve and to be a part of something larger than yourself, please consider this your personal invitation to join in ministry. Where needed most:
Website Content – Many go to MCCDC’s website to learn more information, hear sermons, see pictures of our community even before stepping foot into our sanctuary. We are in great need of a volunteer to assist in this communications ministry.
Children’s Ministry – The Children’s Ministry provides a fun and safe space for children to learn about spiritual values, while valuing each child’s unique talents and abilities.
Hospitality – God’s hospitality extends welcome to the entire community, the Hospitality Ministry provides arms and feet to that welcome. The ministry is responsible for coordinating food and welcome during the social time.
Information Station – These faithful folks coordinate the sharing of information about ministry activities, events and directions. They extend the hospitality of welcome to everyone who has questions or require assistance.
Adult Sunday School – This is a brief yet powerful time to connect with scripture and each other. Participants meet on Sundays from 10:15 – 10:45. All are welcome.
AV Ministry – This Ministry is responsible for the sights and sounds in worship and other services in the sanctuary. If you feel called to investigate learning and participating in providing audio and video support, please pray about connecting.
If you are interested in any of these service ministries, please contact Rev Cathy at email@example.com or 202-638-7373.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CONTINUES
Let Us School You (And you can teach us a few things, too)
Adult Sunday School has restarted. It is held Sunday mornings between the two services from 10:15 ’till 10:45, in the lower-level conference room.

It’s a great way to spend a half-hour – learn something new and fellowship, too.
All are welcome and wanted.
